October Brings in Family History Month, Enter the Death Record Challenge

The following is from Ancestry.

Did you know that October is National Family History Month here in the U.S.? I'm commemorating by connecting with more cousins on Facebook, investigating my DNA matches a little closer, and visiting a couple of cemeteries. October is the perfect month to visit cemeteries and "dig up" details about our ancestors' deaths. What family history mysteries are you working on this month?

The Death Record Challenge
After you solve some of your own family mysteries, try your hand at our Death Record Challenge. From October 15th to November 2nd you can put your investigative skills to the test with new challenges and clues each weekday. Dig into our records for a chance to win great prizes, including a new iPad. Be sure to share this fun (and educational) opportunity with your friends, fans, and followers!

Following this same theme we've also put together a series of Livestream broadcasts to help you learn more about death records including: Searching for Death Records, Alternatives to Death Records, Family History Clues in Records, Uncovering Family Secrets in Cemeteries, Death Clues in Census Records and Tombstone Photography Dos and Don'ts. Join us live for any of the events or catch the replays on our YouTube channel.

Get Your DNA Questions Answered
Many of you have taken the new AncestryDNA test. Now what? Want to know what your results mean? Want to know what to do with those cousin matches? Join me in an Ancestry Aces exclusiveLivestream broadcast on Tuesday, October 16th at 8:00 pm Eastern at http://livestream.com/ancestry. I will show you my results, discuss what you can learn, and share how to connect with other users who have matching strands of DNA. I will also be available on a live chat immediately following the broadcast to answer any additional questions you may have.

Facebook Group
If you are new to the Aces, be sure to join our Facebook Group to connect with other Aces and keep up-to-date on new content, products, and events from Ancestry.com

Until next time, have fun climbing your family tree!
