Saturday Seminar at the Riverton FamilySearch Library

The following is from FamilySearch.

Riverton FamilySearch Library to Host
Saturday Seminar on Pioneer Faith
May 19 from 9:00 A.M. to Noon

RIVERTON, UTAH¾Many of us are fascinated by pioneer stories about those who demonstrated inexplicable courage and faith, despite incredible odds. In his presentation, keynote speaker and noted storyteller Glenn Rawson will open a small time capsule of history revealing what some of these inspired and inspiring people accomplished and what we can learn from them.

Glenn Rawson is the writer and host of the popular television documentary series The Joseph Smith Papersand the voice of Sounds of Sunday. He grew up on a ranch. His love of the outdoors continues to this day. It isn’t unusual to find him outside in his free time—running, bird watching, hiking, or just taking a deep breath. Professionally, he has been a teacher for nearly 30 years, which he says brought him to telling stories. He borrowed the following philosophy for telling stories from Abraham Lincoln, who said, “They say I tell a great many stories. I reckon I do, but I have learned from long experience that plain people . . . are more easily influenced through the medium of a broad and humorous illustration than in any other way” (quoted in Donald T. Phillips, Lincoln on Leadership: Executive Strategies for Tough Times [1993], 162).
Following the 9:00 a.m. keynote presentation, there will be two blocks of four classes each that will cover topics of interest to both beginning and advanced family history enthusiasts.
