Family Discovery Day is just 5 days away!

Family Discovery Day at RootsTech will be an amazing day filled with classes, activities, messages, and events that will inspire you to find family names to take to the temple and teach others to do the same.

Event Check-In
We are anticipating a very high number of people coming to Family Discovery Day. As such, we would like to encourage you and your family or group to arrive at least an hour before the opening general session, which starts at 1:00 p.m. Check-in is located at the RootsTech registration area in the South Foyer of the Salt Palace Convention Center. You will need to show your picture ID upon check-in, after which you will receive bags and wrist bands based on the number of people you provided during the registration process. This number should reflect the total number in your group including adults, youth, and children.

Family Discovery Day General Sessions
The opening and closing general sessions at Family Discovery Day will feature Church leaders and popular guest speakers sharing inspiring messages about families. Featured speakers include Elder Neil L. Andersen and Elder Quentin L. Cook from the Quorum of the Twelve, and popular speakers Olympic silver medalist Noelle Pikus Pace and blogger Al Fox Carraway.
The opening and closing family general sessions will begin at 1:00 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. respectively. Both sessions will be held in Hall D.
Note: In order to accommodate the large number of attendees, we encourage you and your family or group to be seated 20 minutes before sessions begin. Reserving seats will not be allowed.

Family Discovery Day Schedule
Family Discovery Day includes free, fun, and informative classes and activities to help inspire and teach you and your family or group to find family names, take them to the temple, and share your experience with others. Below is an abbreviated schedule of the day’s events, including guest speakers and session themes and topics.

Event Parking
Parking at the Salt Palace is available, but it can be expensive. There are a number of less expensive parking lots in downtown Salt Lake City around the Salt Palace. We recommend parking in the lot located on South Temple between 200 West and 300 West, which charge $3 per day per vehicle. Parking at the LDS Conference Center or Joseph Smith Memorial Building is $10.

Public Transportation
For those taking Trax, the Green or Blue line will get you to the Salt Palace. The closest stop to the Salt Palace is Temple Square (132 W. South Temple Street). For more information, visit rideuta.com.

We’re excited to see you at Family Discovery Day on Saturday, February 14. Watch for more emails with up-to-date information and details about this event in the coming days.
