The following is from RootsTech and FamilySearch.

RootsTech 2014January 2014

FDD Lockup wout Youth

There has been an overwhelming response to Family Discovery Day. This free event for LDS Church members is nearly full! The day will be an exciting opportunity for members of the Church to learn more about the power of family stories, photos, and connections.

Check-in Process
On Saturday morning, please arrive by 9:00 a.m. in order to check in and get your name badge before the morning devotional, which starts at 10:00 a.m. Check-in is located at the RootsTech registration area in the South Foyer of the Salt Palace Convention Center. Enter your name into the computer kiosk, and show your picture ID to the volunteer. You'll receive your name badge, which will give you access to the Family Discovery Day events and the RootsTech Expo Hall.

Youth Activities
Family Discovery Day for Youth is a separate event from Family Discovery Day. The youth event is completely full with thousands of youth, leaders, and parents registered to attend. In order to accommodate this group successfully, only those registered for the youth event and who have wristbands will have access to youth classes and activities. Due to a wait-list of youth who would like to attend this event, requests to add the youth event to your registration cannot be accommodated. If you would like to attend the Studio C event and Elder Neil L. Andersen devotional, seating will be made available to registered Family Discovery Day attendees on a first come, first seated basis in Hall D.

Schedule
Family Discovery Day includes free, fun, and informative classes to help you strengthen your family relationships-past, present, and future! Below is an abbreviated list of classes offered. A complete list of LDS-specific classes will be emailed to you soon.

Expo Hall Activities
Visit the RootsTech Expo Hall, and explore hundreds of technology and family history related exhibitors and interactive booths, including:
FamilySearch Book Scanning-Have a published family history book or journal? FamilySearch offers free book scanning.
Family History Library Mini-lab-Get personal one-on-one research assistance from experts and Family History Library staff. Computer stations are first come, first served with a limit of 15 minutes per attendee during peak times.

Food Options
There will be food available for purchase onsite at the Salt Palace Convention Center in the RootsTech Expo Hall. Food prices range from $10-$15 per person. The Salt Palace does not allow any outside food. There are also plenty of food choices within walking distance of the convention center. They include fast food and sit-down options. For off-site food recommendations, visit the Info Desk in the expo hall.

Parking
Parking at the Salt Palace is available, but it can be expensive. There are a number of less expensive parking lots in downtown Salt Lake City, around the Salt Palace. We recommend parking in the lot located on South Temple between 200 West and 300 West, which charges $3 per day per vehicle. Parking at the LDS Conference Center or Joseph Smith Memorial Building is $10.

Public Transportation
For those taking Trax, the Green or Blue line will get you to the Salt Palace. The closest stop to the Salt Palace is Temple Square (132 W. South Temple Street). Learn more at rideuta.com.
We're excited to see you at Family Discovery Day on Saturday, February 8! Watch for more emails with up-to-date information and details about this event in the coming days. To contact us with questions, please email info@rootstech.org.
