Asked how his family influenced him personally, Feiler said, “I grew up in the American South in a tight-knit family, where storytelling was both a defining feature of our family and a blood sport. I can't separate my sense of family from the stories we told around the dinner table. Every one of my books both begins and ends with stories of my family: It's the way I talk, think, and live.”
