Illinois State Genealogical Society Scavenger Hunt

FamilySearch.org teams up with ISGS to host online scavenger hunt

Would you like to attend the RootsTech Conference for free? Do you have a connection to Illinois? Maybe you're just web savvy?

FamilySearch.org has teamed up with the Illinois State Genealogical Society (ISGS) to host an online scavenger hunt. For the month of June, the public is invited to locate information on Illinois genealogy-related resources and tell us why a resource is worthy of inclusion in the FamilySearch Research Wiki.

Prizes will be offered, including the previously mentioned RootsTech 2012 Conference registration and a one-year ISGS membership. A small prize will also be awarded to entrants randomly each day until June 30, 2011. Before preparing your entry, please visit the FamilySearch.orgResearch Wiki page for Illinois to find out what entries already exist.

There are two ways you can enter the contest:
1. Contribute an original narrative article-that includes hyperlinks to related sources- about an Illinois genealogy-related topic. The article must be your original work and can be Illinois county-specific or resource-specific or about Illinois history. (Note: Articles about specific Illinois ancestors or people cannot be accepted or posted at the FamilySearch Research Wiki.) You can contribute as many articles as you want but please use only one article per entry form.
2. Contribute a hyperlink to a specific Illinois genealogy-related resource such as an online index, database, repository or the like. You can contribute as many hyperlinks as you want but please use only one hyperlink per entry form.
For more information about the contest, please visit the ISGS website.
