Free Seminar on Inspiring Priesthood Leaders and
Members to Participate in Family History
The Riverton FamilySearch Library Hosts Event
on September 15th from 9:00 A.M. to Noon

RIVERTON, UTAHDo others share your enthusiasm for doing family history work? Do you ever wish that you could help inspire others to become involved? You can learn creative ways to accomplish this goal at a free seminar to be held on Saturday, September 15, at the Riverton FamilySearch Library. Keynote speaker Russell Lynch will present an address entitled “How to Inspire Priesthood Leaders and Members to Participate in Family History.” Come learn how to increase the support you receive from stake and ward priesthood leaders and gain tips for encouraging members to participate in their divine responsibility to redeem their ancestors.      


Russell S. Lynch is a manager in Collection Operations in the Genealogical Records Division of FamilySearch International. During his 24 years at FamilySearch, he has worked in the U.S. Reference Unit at the Family History Library and as a user specialist for FamilySearch databases. Russell holds a bachelor of arts degree in French with honors from the University of Utah and a master of Library and Information Sciences from Brigham Young University. He is an accredited genealogist professional in midwestern U.S. research. He has served as president of the Utah Genealogical Association and chaired committees for the American Library Association. He is a member of national and state genealogical societies as well as an international library association. He currently serves as a bishop of his ward in Kearns, Utah.


Following the keynote presentation, there will be two blocks of four classes each that will cover topics of interest to beginning, intermediate, and advanced family history enthusiasts.

Classes to be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. are:

The classes available from 11:00 a.m. to noon are:

  • “The Best Approach for Conducting British Research”Paul Smart

  • “Fabulous Finds Using FamilySearch Filters”Linda Baker

  • “Capturing Images with Irfanview”RoseAnn Fisher

  • “Blogging for Genealogy Success”Larry Cragun

Registration is not required for this free seminar. The Riverton FamilySearch Library is located in the LDS Riverton Office Building at 3740 Market Center Drive. The facility is near the intersection of Bangerter Highway and 13400 South, just east of The Home Depot.
