Keynote Speakers at RootsTech 2016

RootsTech Keynotes and Entertainment
David Isay, Founder of StoryCorps, and Former Governor Mike Leavitt to Speak at RootsTech 2016
We are thrilled to announce David Isay, founder of StoryCorps, and Mike Leavitt, former Utah Governor, as keynote speakers at RootsTech 2016. We are also excited to announce Caleb Chapman’s Crescent Super Band with singer Ryan Innes as the featured entertainment at the RootsTech opening social and the band Lower Lights as the closing event entertainment.

David Isay
Founder of StoryCorps and Best-Selling Author
Radio producer and New York Times best-selling author David Isay will speak at the Friday morning keynote session on February 5. Isay has received numerous broadcasting honors, including six Peabody awards and a MacArthur “Genius” fellowship. He is also the winner of the 2015 TED prize for his work with StoryCorps.

Michael Leavitt
Founder and Chairman of Leavitt Partners 
Former Utah Governor Michael Leavitt will keynote at the Saturday morning session on February 6. Leavitt served in a variety of roles in President George W. Bush’s cabinet, including U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services and Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Leavitt is currently founder and chairman of Leavitt Partners.

Crescent Super Band featuring Ryan Innes
RootsTech Opening Social Entertainment
Organized in 2001 under the direction of award-winning performer Caleb Chapman, the Crescent Super Band has frequently been hailed as one of the best professional bands in the world. They have traveled the world performing in top venues, including a packed performance at famed Carnegie Hall. Singer-songwriter Ryan Innes appeared on NBC’s hit TV show, The Voice, where he impressed judges with his soulful vocals.

Lower Lights
RootsTech Closing Event Entertainment
The Lower Lights are a collective of 20-plus prominent Utah-rooted musicians, each with their own respective musical careers. They meld folk, gospel, bluegrass, and more to create music that can jump from reverent to raucous, sometimes in the same song.
