Full-Service Genealogy offered by My Family Online

Lehi, Utah – February 8, 2014 – One of the exhibitors at RootsTech this year was My Family Online, a full-service genealogy company offering scanning, publishing, research and a host of other services. Genealogy is becoming more technical and difficult to master. In an industry dominated by the do- it-yourself business model My Family Online offers a fill-in-the-gaps model. “We do everything our customers don’t know how or don’t want to do” explained the company’s founder Roland Astorga.

The company focuses on three main steps in their genealogical approach. My Family Online’s first step is to insure their customers have their photographs, documents, journals and histories digitized in order to share their genealogy online and backed up in case of a disaster. “Some of America’s greatest treasures are in Grandma’s basement or Grandpa’s attic” said Roland Astorga. The company utilizes scanners and digitizing equipment can scan thousands of images per hour.

The second and essential step is to create web pages for each ancestor and incorporate digitized media on the company’s website www.myfamilyonline.com where all of their customers’ family trees are located. “Maintaining an online repository for all your family history is fundamental to organizing, sharing and expanding genealogy” Astorga expounded. Since the company is not affiliated with any religion and does not require a subscription to view ancestors online, their model fosters family interest and participation in genealogy.

The third and continuing step is to utilize My Family Online’s network of contractors worldwide to progress family lines through local, specialized research. “No matter if you are stuck in Denmark, Germany or Virginia, our contractors can find that local record that has not been digitized and is not online that can advance your family tree another generation” said Astorga. Transcription, translation, history writing, photograph restoration and other services are performed to augment the entire process.

Pricing is based on an hourly rate ranging from $35 to $50 an hour based on the monthly subscription. Customers can discontinue their subscription at any time while their family history remains online. Free hours are awarded customers for referrals. “We are passionate about working together with families to preserve, publish and expand their genealogies” stated Roland Astorga.
